  • We have Digital Photo in the First Year Lab @ 11:15. Bring your cameras with you, if you’ve got one.

Assignment | Contemporary Designer Poster

Screen Shot 2015-08-28 at 9.18.18 AMAfter watching the Lynda.com documentary series “Artist Series with Hillman Curtis,” chose one designer to research online, and make a poster.

Poster requirements:

  • Document set-up: 11×17, with .125″ bleeds
  • Either landscape or portrait
  • Save poster in Semester One/Assignments/Contemporary Designer
  • Be sure to save all images used in an images folder.

The poster should include:

  • Examples of the designer’s work
  • Biographical details (for example, where the designer lives, where they are from, where they were trained/went to school, what they are passionate about, why they became a designer, what they love about design, what they hate about design, etc). 
  • Consider placement, size, scale and color to make the poster easy to read and visually interesting to look at.

Choose ONE of the following designers:

  • David Carson
  • Milton Glaser
  • Paula Scher
  • Stefan Sagmeister
  • James Victore

Assignment | Digital Photography | Exposure

  • Shoot MINIMUM 40 images.
  • Keep camera in Manual Mode, RAW file format.
  • Practice making a good exposure.
  • Subject matter is up to you. Experiment with camera angles as you get more comfortable making a good exposure.

Save all RAW files on your local hard drive

Create a new folder under Assignments and name it Exposure_YourInitials

Export your chosen 40 exposures to this folder. Unretouched Versions only Please
